SUKHUMI. July 9 (Interfax) - A number of people suspected of involvement in an attempt to assassinate Abkhaz Prime Minister Alexander Ankvaba have been identified, the breakaway province's Prosecutor General Safarbei Mikanba told journalists on Monday.
"We know a number of people who could be involved in the assassination attempt," he said.
The owner of the car the attackers are believed to have used to escape has already been identified, Mikanba said, refusing to provide further details.

Abkhazian Library revives from its ashes Istanbul/Agency Caucasus – Considered the greatest treasury of the Abkhazian history, the National Library is trying hard to survive with some books that have remained since the one-year period of warfare between 1992 and 1993 when the Georgian occupation set the library fire on.
Officials of the Abkhazian National Library are appealing to Diaspora for help with efforts to restore this historic treasury of books, where as many as 400,000 historical books were burnt and only some 300,000 books were saved.
Boris Cholaria, the Abkhazian National Library Director, issued a call for help from Diaspora to supply essential computer equipment for use in classifying books.

The case about corruption in the Sukhumi city administration will be submitted to court all the same. In spite of the fact that financial assets stolen by figurants of the criminal case were partially returned, it will be not possible to avoid next judicial process. Abkhazia puts focus back on homecoming
Sukhum / Agency Caucasus - The Abkhazian administration places focus on homecoming from Diaspora over again after earlier official attempts failed to meet expectations.
The Abkhazian Parliamentary Committee for Return held a meeting in an effort to draw up a newer official program of encouragement for future returns from Diaspora.
The committee meeting promoted a proposal to meet the needs prior to the settling of Abazins as a whole.
Words of support for anyone who wants to return to Abkhazia came from the Parliament Speaker Nugzar Ashuba when he proposed that further work with schooling both at college and university levels should be developed.
