The representative of the president of Georgia in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svanetia region Kaha Ardiya has accused Russian "peacemakers" of beating an inhabitant of village Otobaya of the Galskiy region of Abkhazia Lashu Saheishvili last Saturday; Russian mass-media inform.
According to Ardiya, in village Otobaya up to 10 drunken soldiers of the "peace-making" forces took away a mobile phone from Lasha Saheishvili, and then severely beat him. The victim was taken to the Zugdidi hospital with a heavy trauma of the skull and other physical injuries. Today he is going to be made an operation.

GEORGIA, ABKHAZIA REACH AGREEMENT ON ENERGY EXPORTS
During talks in Sukhum on 8 June, Georgian Energy Minister Nika Gilauri and Chernomorenergo head Revaz Zantaria reached agreement that Tiflis will pay Abkhazia for energy it uses generated by the Inguri hydroelectric power plant.
The price will be determined in talks next week between Gilauri and Abkhaz Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Lakerbaya.
It was further agreed that Georgia will export to Turkey during the summer months energy generated by Abkhazia´s Vardnili hydroelectric power station and receive a comparable amount of electricity from Abkhazia during the winter.

Although Abkhazia was the only one to declare its independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union and had unilaterally put on its agenda a federation agreement with Georgia, it unexpectedly found itself under attack by the Georgian army. In this respect, the date of Georgian incursion, August 14, 1992, not only brought great social and economic upheaval, but it also exhausted all possibilities of coming together again with Georgia.
Possessing a federal structure in the Soviet Union together with the autonomous republics of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Adjaria, Georgia chose a unitary state structure when it became independent. TURKEY OFFERS TO MEDIATE BETWEEN GEORGIA, ABKHAZIA
Visiting Sukhum on 28-31 May, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Ertan Tezgor met with parliamentary and government officials and with Abkhaz whose ancestors were victims of Forced Migration from Abkhazia and settled in Turkey in the 19th century.
On 31 May, Tezgor met with Parliamentary Speaker Nugzar Ashuba, Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba, President Sergei Bagapsh, and Vice President Raul Khadjimba and suggested during those talks that Ankara could mediate talks between Tiflis and Abkhazia.
