Lives of deported Chechens from Austria are under threat

Publication time: Today at 09:50 Djokhar time

According to Austrian radio, due to the terror of infiltrated into Austria Kadyrov's gangs and the policy of Austrian authorities, some of the Chechen refugees are forced to return to Chechnya or to agree for deportation to Poland.

Austria itself deports Chechens to the "country of the first entry", which is Poland. However they are under threat there, because of the FSB killers and Kadyrov's emissaries.

With regard to the increase in number of refusals by Austrian authorities for political asylum in Austria, refugees claim that fear of Chechens in Austria has increased after the assassination of Umar Israilov by a terrorist gang of Russian FSB in January 13 this year:

"Everybody is afraid. How many people must die before Austrian and European authorities will understand that Chechens should be recognized as refugees and they are not returning to Chechnya ...

Power agents hold exercises at hospital in Ingushetia, human rights activists are indignant

aug 22 2009, 11:00

Human rights activists have condemned the actions of power agents of Ingushetia under a simulated evacuation from the Republic's Clinical Hospital in Nazran. The training alert was announced there on August 21; however, at first, only law enforcement bodies knew about it, while ordinary people took the mess for the reality and were strongly frightened.

On August 21, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia announced that an unknown person had called the city militia unit and said that a woman-suicide bomber had penetrated into the territory of the hospital aiming to commit a terror act there. The building of the hospital was cordoned, and all the people inside - about two hundred in total - were evacuated and gathered in the yard.

By her appearance and behaviour, the visitor to the ...

CK: In Chechnya, Human Rights Activists Fear Repressions Against Terrorists' Relatives

In Chechnya, human rights activists fear repressions against terrorists' relatives

aug 24 2009, 18:00

Experts of some Chechen NGOs stick to the opinion that relatives and family members of the two suicide bombers, who blew themselves in the afternoon on August 21 in Grozny killing four employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya and a young woman, are under threat of punitive and repressive measures.

"I'm afraid that relatives of Batalov and Saltakhanov (surnames of suicide bombers, - comment of the "Caucasian Knot") can face very serious problems, since power agencies are already openly using the principle of collective responsibility in relation to militants' relatives," said the leader of one of local NGOs.

After a suicide bomber blew himself up in the end of July in Grozny, his mother's house was burnt down; and the mother and several close relatives of that guy disappeared," said the source of the "Caucasian Knot".

"Some people ...

Woman from Astrakhan fined for criticizing Governor Zhilkin

aug 24 2009, 19:00

In Astrakhan, a magistrate judge of the Kirov District has recognized local resident Nadiya Fokina guilty of hooliganism and sentenced her to a fine of 500 roubles; on August 17, she criticized Alexander Zhilkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, in the presence of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, when the former demonstrated a repaired embankment to the latter.

According to her story, Ms Fokina asked the Governor not to make "pokazukha" (window dressing). According to militiamen, Nadiya Fokina, having seen Russian President and Governor of the Astrakhan Region, started loudly crying out curses. "She spoke obvious obscene words, we can say, she attempted on President," the local UVD (Interior Department) asserts.

The "Kommersant" writes that UVD officials managed to prove at the court that the woman had swore hard in the presence of the head of the state, thus, breaking the public order.

MOSCOW: Russian security forces arrested yesterday nine opposition activists who were taking part in a march in the centre of Moscow, police said.

The nine were among those marking the day of the Russian flag which is being commemorated throughout the country yesterday, Moscow police spokesman Anatoly Lastovetsky told the Interfax news agency.

He said the march had broken the rules by exceeding the previously announced number of participants and raising two banners rather than one.

The march was organised by the bitterly anti-Kremlin Solidarity movement which brings together opposition figures including the liberal ex-minister Boris Nemstov and former world chess champion Garry Kasparov. Among those arrested were Roman Dobrokhotov, leader of the opposition youth movement We and prominent activist Ilya Yashin, Nemtsov told the Echo of Moscow radio station.

Around 50 opposition activists took part, Interfax said. Nemtsov said there were initially no ...
