(RFE/RL) -- Two more human rights workers have been murdered in Chechnya.

Zarema Sadulayeva, the head of a charity for victims of the Chechen wars, has been found shot dead, along with her husband, Alik Dzhabrailov.

The murders come less than a month after another prominent Chechen rights activist, Natalya Estemirova, was killed.

Police found the bodies of Sadulayeva and Dzhabrailov on August 11 in the trunk of a car in a suburb of Grozny. Both had been shot dead after being abducted from the office of their charity in the capital on August 10.

Sadulayeva headed a Russian NGO, Save the Generations, which provided medical and psychological help to young victims of the fighting in Chechnya. Among those it helps are children who lost limbs during the region's separatist struggle against Moscow.

Her husband shared her work. They had married ...

The head of the puppet regime on the occupied territories of Chechnya, Kadyrov, is "shocked" by the murder of the "Save the Generation" organization's employees.

"This is a cynical, brutal and a provocative murder. I regard this as a challenge to society, aimed to intimidate the whole population", - proclaimed the murtad.

As it has been with the murder of Estimirova, Kadirov assured that it is going to "be an affair of honour for him to catch and punish the murderers".

The head of the young people's non-governmental organization "Save the generation" Zarema Sadulaeva and her husband Umar Dzhabrailov were kidnapped during the day on Monday from the office in Dzhohar city. Charity head found dead in Chechnya

The bodies of Zarema Sadulayeva and Alik

Dzhabrailov were found in Grozny

The head of a Russian charity kidnapped along with her husband in the restive region of Chechnya has been found dead, according to Interfax news agency.

The bodies of Zarema Sadulayeva and Alik Dzhabrailov, her partner, were found in Grozny, the Chechen capital, on Tuesday.

"Their bodies were found in the settlement of Chernorechye in Grozny," Interfax quoted Alexander Cherkasov, a board member of Memorial, a human rights group, as saying.

Cherkasov did not have immediate information on the cause of death.

He said Sadulayeva's husband had previously been jailed for four years for links to banned armed groups and had married the charity head two months after leaving prison.

Interfax also quoted interior ministry sources in the region as confirming the killing. "The rights activists were found in the boot of a car with gunshot wounds," it quoted an official source as saying.

Prague Watchdog: "Don't Believe, Don't Fear, Don't Ask"

"Don't believe, don't fear, don't ask"

We will not forget this laughter or this indifference.

We will remember all of youwho raised your hands, by name.

Alexander Galich, "On the death of Pasternak”.

That’s it. It’s as though the plug has been pulled – one no longer wants to do anything but go away. Preferably to some distant place. Best of all, abroad, so as to escape from the idle talk of one’s compatriots about the national exclusivity of the Chechens. They don’t get tired of repeating that nonsense against the background of ruthless killings of Chechens by Chechens, the abductions and torture which they describe to their own people without a tremble of compassion in their voices and without a trace of visible regret. Of all this, and of much else, I am finally sick to death. ...

Whig Standard: Family Of Slain Journalist Blasts Russian Court 'Circus'

Family of slain journalist blasts Russian court 'circus'

Posted By KARINA IOFFEE, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

8-Aug-2009

A Moscow court rejected a plea by the family of slain Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya for a new investigation into her death, leading critics again to accuse authorities of not being interested in hunting the perpetrators.

Three men are being retried for allegedly playing minor roles in Politkovskaya's 2006 death, after the Supreme Court overturned their acquittal in June.

Politkovskaya's family had hoped the retrial, which started Wednesday, would spur a new inquiry to discover the masterminds of the killing. Prosecutors had backed the family's request for a new investigation.

But yesterday's ruling dashed those hopes, and underpinned suspicion of official obstruction in the high-profile case.

Politkovskaya's daughter, Vera, said yesterday's decision lessened the family's faith in the fairness of the proceedings.

"We are absolutely shocked by today's news and are disappointed because we thought we had a chance to attain justice," ...
