Pressure continues on Rostov oppositionists
RUSSIA, Rostov-on-Don. Member of the Rostov department of the United Civil Front (OGF) Vladimir Dey, reports that OGF regional council member Andrey Grekov was detained in the office of the Boris Baty, leader of the Rostov department of the United Civil Front (OGF). Earlier, outside the office, someone had unsuccessfully attempted to provoke a fight with Grekov.

During the detention, according to Vladimir De, the police told Grekov that "in the Rostov KPZ anything could happen to him".

Forced migrants evicted from their homes in Chechnya

The administration of the Oktiabrskiy District and power agencies of Chechnya have commenced compulsory eviction of forced migrants out of their homes, the Internet portal Kasparov.Ru informs with reference to the Prima.news.com.

On June 21, representatives of the district administration arrived to the temporary residence facility (TRF) named "Okruzhnaya," located in the Oktiabrskiy District of Chechnya, and started, together with local power agencies, violent eviction of residents.

The belongings of the TRF inhabitants were taken out into the street, and the rooms were sealed up. However, the reasons of the eviction are still unknown.

Strasbourg condemns Russia again for murdering and torturing residents of Chechnya

The European Court for Human Rights has found Russia guilty of murders and tortures of Chechen residents. Today in Strasbourg, the RF (Russian Federation) authorities lost the case "Bitieva and Kh. versus Russia." The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it at the Human Rights Centre "Memorial," whose lawyers represented the applicants' interests at the European Court.

The National Press Club will honor slain investigative journalist Anna
Politkovskaya with the John Aubuchon Freedom of the Press Award.

In a statement Wednesday, the club's president, Jerry Zremski, singled
out Politkovskaya's reporting on the military's conduct in Chechnya
and said she deserved to be remembered for her "courage and commitment
to journalism." Politkovskaya will be honored at a July 16 ceremony in

CHECHNYA, Groznyy. On June 21 at approximately 3:00 p.m., representatives of the regional administration, together with local authorities, began the forced expulsion of inhabitants of the Okryzhenya temporary facilities, located in the Octyabrsky District.
