Andrey Rudomaha: accident in Kerchensky strait was inevitable

The accident, taken place on Tamanian peninsula, in Kerchensky strait is unprecedented in relation to its scales, the coordinator of the Ecological Watch in Northern Caucasus Andrey Rudomaha supposed. The basic fault lays on the authorities and the companies, organized transportation of the dangerous cargoes in such vulnerable place.

Now, as he said, on the place of the accident the ecologists - members of the organization "For Taman’s Rescue!" are operating. In the Maykop office of the Ecological Watch they receive photos and details.

"We have connections not only with the ecologists, - he said, - but also with the local inhabitants, representatives of the state authority. The flood of petroleum is really huge. It had reached the Azov sea, the water area near Kamenny cape and Chushka; and the coast near Ilich settlement is ...

Residents of Chechnya disbelieve in a fair verdict to Arakcheev and Khudyakov

The majority of residents of Chechnya are convinced that Russian officers Arakcheev and Khudyakov accused of murdering three Chechens in January 2003 will incur no punishment.

"It seems to me that in the so-called 'Arakcheev-Khudyakov's case' we face, just like practically in all the trials of this sort, the desire of the judiciary to withdraw the accused persons away from the deserved punishment. The same was in Budanov's case, whom they first announced to be 'insane', then acquitted him and then sentenced him to 10 years in colony, where as far as I know, he lives happily. And Ulman's group was 'trialled' for so long that they had eventually disappeared from the investigation. The same happens now," an employee of one of local human rights organizations told in his ...

Trepashkin is forbidden to be present at consideration of his case

The court has not allowed Mikhail Trepashkin, ex-FSB officer, convicted for disclosure of state secrets, to be present at consideration of his cassation complaint against the decision to toughen his punishment serving conditions.

The respective Trepashkin's petition was rejected today by the Judicial Board for Criminal Cases of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court, as Gleb Edelev, coordinator of the Ekaterinburg Movement against Violence, who was present in the courtroom, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
