On October 4, the Constitutional Court of Russia conducted a hearing on the constitutionality of the Criminal Procedure Code (UPK) and Criminal Code (UK) of Russia concerning forced medical measures.
Those who brought the case believe the disputed articles violate their constitutional rights and freedoms, as they allow for the "arbitrary application of forced measures of a medical nature", i.e., forced psychiatric examination.
V. Matveyev, O. Lobashova and S. Ablamskiy, in their complaints, dispute Article 402, Part 1 of Article 437, Article 444, Part 1 of Article 445, Chapter 51 of the UPK of Russia and Chapter 15 of the UK of Russia.
