20/1/2007 Azerbaijani law defenders threat to complain against Russia to the Council of Europe
Azerbaijani human rights activists can apply their complaint to the Council of Europe in connection with deportation of Azerbaijani citizens from Russia. The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" has learnt about it from the Azerbaijani human rights activists.
One of them - Eldar Zeinalov - has noted that should the authorities of the Russian Federation breach the rights of Azerbaijani citizens while deporting them, the local human rights defenders should surely lodge a complaint against Russia to the Council of Europe (CE) and other international organizations. "In such case, we shall even strive for initiating debates at the Council of Europe on the issue. However, so far we have got no signals that Russian authorities have broken rights of our citizens. Therefore, there is no need yet to apply to the СЕ," E. Zeinalov said.
Let us note here that according to the new migration regulations enacted by Russia on January 15, not a single foreigner shall remain trading in the ware and food markets of Russia by the end of this year.
