18/1/2007 Activists of "Nord-Ost" complain of pressure by the authorities
On January 18, 2007, a press conference "A Year to Presidential Election: Terror Victims Want the Truth" was held at the Independent Press Centre in Moscow.
Activists of the "Nord-Ost" public organization took part in the press conference.
They have informed journalists about their new action, which implies a tour over Russian regions with the aim to tell citizens on their viewpoint of the October 2002 terror act, and about the activities of the organization to find out the truth. In particular, the book will be presented "Nord-Ost. Inquiry Unfinished..." published with assistance of the "Foundation for Helping Terror Victims."
The terror victims have a lot of claims to the authorities. The investigatory team was dissolved, no situational examination was held. And recently, the investigators of the Moscow City Prosecutor's Office have started to take signatures of the victims obliging them not to disclose the inquiry data. D. Milovidov, a member of the "Nord-Ost," who lost his daughter of 14 during the terror act, told about it to the press conference.
The "Nord-Ost" members view these actions as an intention of the authorities to shut up those who want to tell the truth to the public.
We remind you that on October 23, 2002, 923 spectators and actors of the "Nord-Ost" musical were taken hostage by terrorists. At least 130 persons died and 700 more were injured. Forty terrorists (21 men and 19 women) were killed. Most of the hostages were released in the course of a special operation on October 26, 2002.
