16/10/2006 Two detained and one beaten in Ingushetia at dispersing a picket in memory of Politkovskaya
Today, at about 3:30 p.m., members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia moved to the venue of a picket in memory of Anna Politkovskaya in Nazran (Ingushetia), the "Ingushetia.Ru" informs.
After having ordered the picketers to dismiss, the militiamen detained Magomed Mutsolygov, one of the picket organizers and head of the "Mashr" organization, and took him to the GOVD (City Interior Headquarters). Musa Medov, Deputy Interior Minister of Ingushetia, answering picketers' questions on the picket legality and reasons of militiamen's actions, gave references to the instruction of Murat Zyazikov, president of Ingushetia.
Then, a mob of young guys aged 20-25 approached the meeting. Under an absolute ignorance of the militiamen who were busy dispersing the picket, they started to insult the participants of the action and the perished Anna Politkovskaya, and then beat one of the picketers. Militiamen forced Albert Khantygov, a "Memorial" collaborator, into one of the cars.
Note that today morning the "Mashr" public organization received an official refusal to hold the meeting, although last week a permit had been granted.
