On February 1st, attorney Mikhail Trepashkin, being held in the Lower Tagil Penal Colony, was sent into isolation. He was accused of using unprintable expressions in a conversation with the attorney who was brought to Trepashkin in response to his complaints.
As Elena Lipster, Trepashkin’s attorney, reported to a correspondent of PRIMA-News, her client denies the charge. He said that in the building where he spoke with the representative of the Sverdlovsk provincial procuratorship, they were alone. But in the adjacent room were prisoners in the process of having their sentences lightened and therefore, according to Trepashkin, dependent on the administration. The charge of using unprintable expressions was based on their evidence.
Trepashkin is serving a sentence on the charge of divulging state secrets, a charge which human rights activists consider to be manufactured. This is not his first time in isolation (SHIZO). Last time Trepashkin was sent there was January 17th on false charges of raising his voice in conversation with the prison doctor.
Lyubov Kosik, who has also been a defender of Trepashkin, reported to Elena Liptser that the administration of IR -13 is planning to petition the court on February 6th to transfer Trepashkin as a malicious case to a general prison colony. Elena Liptser emphasized that the administration’s decision to place Trepashkin in isolation will be appealed in court.
