July 30. The Department of Dialysis in the Ingush Republic Clinical Hospital (IRKB) now has 10 dialysis machines. In addition to the single machine that was in use, four have been repaired and five are new. This occurred after patients suffering kidney deficiency complained to the authorities in Russia and Ingushetia, and declared a hunger strike on July 24, protesting against "inhuman treatment from the management of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Ingushetia".
On July 24, 15 IRKB patients who suffer from kidney deficiency declared a hunger strike. In the entire republic there are 35 people with this diagnosis. They all were forced to use one dialysis machine. The hunger strike ceased after four machines were repaired, and the management of the Ministry of Public Health of Ingushetia promised to bring five more into the Republic.
The press-service of the regional public movement Chechen Committee of National Rescue spoke with IRKB patient Radimkhan Zangiyev by phone on July 30. He reported that ten dialysis machines are operating in the Dialysis Department, and that five additional machines will be coming within 45 days.
Patients were also told that 8 million rubles worth of medicine has been ordered, and should arrive at the hospital in the very near future. Repairs have begun on the premises, and the air conditioner has been fixed.
Nevertheless, Radimkhan Zangiyev said: "The patients have written a statement to the procuratorship of the Republic requesting Prosecutor Turygin to oversee the management of the Ministry of Public Health's fulfillment of all our demands and their promises. Everything that we accomplished today has taken us enormous effort... " reported the press-service of the Chechen Committee of National Rescue.
