25/7/2007 NGO employee convicted in Volgograd for using non-licensed software
The Krasnooktiabrskiy District Court has sentences an employee of the non-commercial organization "Citizens - Foundation for Support of Public Initiatives," a Volgograd resident of 23, for illegal use of copyright objects.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Volgograd Region that the young man "in November 2004 installed, without concluding a respective contract with the copyright owner, to the hard disk of his personal computer the legal system 'Garant-Strojmaximum. Practice of VAS regions, network multi-user version 5.5,' the retail cost of which at the official company's dealer was 260,640 roubles." The above citizen used the installed legal system both for his personal needs and for his professional duties at the non-commercial organization.
The defendant has been sentenced to the conditional punishment in the form of two-year imprisonment with a six-month probation period.
