4/7/2007 Prosecutor's office finds no violations in dispersal of the "Disagreement March" in Moscow
The Moscow City Prosecutor's Office has found no excess of official powers by militiamen at dispersal of the "Disagreement March" on April 14, and refused to initiate any criminal cases. Today, an answer has arrived from the City Prosecutor's Office running that "there were no violations at detention and bringing people to territorial Interior Departments (OVDs)," the Public Movement "For Human Rights" reports.
The answer of the City Prosecutor's Office states that in total administrative offence protocols were drawn up on 357 citizens.
We remind you that a broad-scale "Disagreement March" took place in Moscow on April 14, 2007, and on April 15, a similar action was held in St Petersburg. Law enforcement bodies applied force at dispersal of the demonstrations. According to the organizers of the action, some 500 persons were detained during the March in Moscow. By the same estimates, about 100 persons suffered from OMON (Special Militia) actions in the capital. 54 persons addressed for help only to Trauma Centre No. 137 located in the Presnya District.
