On May 31, officers of the Moscow procuratorship conducted a search of the apartment of Vladimir Pribylovsky - pamphleteer and President of the Information- Research Center "Panorama". Officially, the search was connected with the investigation of a criminal case concerning information leaks from law-enforcement agencies.
On February 14, 2007, the procuratorship filed a criminal case concerning the publication by Vladimir Pribylovsky on the Internet site anticompromat.ru of the text of a witness interview in the investigation of the murder of the former Chief of the Moscow UFSB, General Anatoly Trofimov. The investigation is attempting to establish the source of the information leak. Pribylovsky is considered to be a witness.
The search began at 11:00 am and ended at 1:40 pm. The search warrant indicated that it was conducted for the purpose of taking materials and documents which were critical to the matter under investigation. The search was carried out by Inspector of the Moscow Procuratorship Gang and Murder Investigation Unit, lawyer Dmitry Pchelkin, and Moscow UBOP Senior Officer, Danil Klepikov.
As a result of the search, two personal computers and about ten diskettes and CDs were taken.
Vladimir Pribylovsky believes that the sudden increase in investigative interest in the matter might possibly be connected to his participation in the Initiative-Taking Group on the advancement of Vladimir Bukovsky as a presidential candidate for Russia.
