"Caucasian forum of nongovernmental organizations" distributed on May 12th its statement connected with the beating of IА REGNUM employee Murat Gukemuhov’s father. In the document they condemned the action of criminals and required from the law enforcement bodies to organize effective investigation and capturing of all the guilty persons. The forum expressed a hope that all the corresponding measures would be taken for organization due medical aid to the victim. The paper was signed by the executive secretary of "Caucasian forum of NGOs" David Petrosyan. In it it was spoken:
"On May 11th in the city of Cherkessk (Karachaevo-Circassia) Gukemuhov Muhamed Abubakarovich, the father of the known journalist and the coordinator of "Caucasian forum of NGOs" in Cherkessk Murat Gukemuhov, was attacked. According to the received information, unknown person had punched his head with a baseball bat and beaten out one eye. Now Gukemuhov M.A. is in reanimation in the grave condition. Our friend Murat Gukemuhov considers that the attack had been organized against him, but the attackers mistaken him in darkness for his father...
Besides according to IА REGNUM, Gukemuhov also received "commercial" offers from various interested parties in connection with interpretation of some criminal cases; however he ignored them.
Resolutely condemning the actions of criminals which we regarded as an action of intimidation against the family of Gukemuhovs, we demand from the law enforcement bodies effective investigation and capture not only the persons who organized and committed this crime, but its customers, too. "Caucasian forum of NGOs" expresses a hope that all the corresponding measures for rendering due medical aid to victim - Gukemuhov Muhamed Abubakarovich - would be undertaken, and also demands from the competent bodies due level of Murat Gukemuhov’s safety in his professional activities".
