Try the search engine www.google.com for "Human rights violations Chechnya." YOU WILL HAVE MORE THAN 1.000.000 HITS! - 1 MILLION! Here is the link.
Individuals, organizations, Governments and the United Nations have made their statements by the score. The world knows perfectly well about the atrocities the Chechen people are suffering - and yet it remains shamefully silent and completely passive to the ongoing Russian war crimes in Chechnya. In the last twelve years Russians have killed more than 200.000 Chechens, 40.000 of them were children. The country has been bombed to rubble. Humanity, health, economy, jobs, houses, infrastructure - everything is in ruins. The Russians have also lost 40.000 of their own young soldiers. Another 2 million Russian military have returned from service in Chechnya, badly scarred, either physically or mentally.
This is an ongoing war crime of huge proportions, a destruction of a nation. Continued war brings no positive outcome for anyone, and there is no military solution to the conflict. Also, the hostilities may radicalize, spread, and destabilize the whole of Caucasus, with the serious international implications this may imply. If the so-called "International Community" has compassion, morals and common sense, it should without delay bring the battling sides to mediation that can bring about peace, human rights and human dignity to Chechnya. That is the responsibility - and also the duty - of the International Community.
