Ella Kesaeva, co-chair of the "Voice of Beslan" Committee, when speaking at the House of Culture in Melnikova Street, where the delegation of the Committee specially arrived for taking part in the today's mourning events, has expressed her confidence that sooner or later the people who are responsible for execution of schoolchildren in Beslan, and those who fed gas into the hall full of people, will be made responsible for their actions. According to the materials of the inquiry, five of the hostages were killed directly by the terrorists, while at least 125 more died in the course of special operations to secure their release. Russian justice has fulfilled the task that was entrusted to it by the authorities: there has been no trial of those responsible for the deaths of those people. At a minimum, the police should ensure accountability for the volunteers’ actions before proceeding with their use. According to recent news reports, Moscow city police have recruited volunteers from the pro-Kremlin youth group “Nashi” (Ours) to patrol Moscow streets, including at demonstrations and opposition events.
