According to employees of the UBOP (Department for Fighting Organized Crime) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), his death was a result of his jump that he undertook in the course of interrogation from the fourth floor of the UBOP building. We remind you that on November 15, in Kabardino-Balkaria, in a suburb of Nalchik, militiamen detained a car with two young men, aged 29 and 19 - residents of Gerpegezh village. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from Grigor Avetisyan, a lawyer of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", who represented the interests of the victim's father at the Strasbourg Court. Aslanbek Kukaev was detained by Russian militaries in the capital of Chechnya on November 26, 2000, and on April 22, 2001, his body with a bullet wound in the head was found at the entrance to one of the cellars in Grozny. By doing so, the Court has partially satisfied the inmate's cassation complaint demanding to cancel the decision of the Nizhni Tagil District Court to toughen his custody conditions and extend his term till December 19.
