Police try 'to wash away' human rights violations

The Commissioner for Human Rights in Stavropol Region claims the Stavropol Regional Police Department does not make a legal assessment of the 11 June mass and gross human rights violations in Ivanovskoye. Moreover, according to Mr Selyukov, it tries "to wash them away, reducing gross human rights violations to violations committed by some officers involved in the incident."

There is noticeable confrontation between the commissioner (former regional prosecutor) and regional security agencies. At first a consultant from the commissioner's staff was included in the commission investigating the illegal detention of 30 residents of Ivanovskoye, but after 23 June he was in fact debarred from taking part in the commission's work. And on 20 June, the commissioner himself was summoned to the regional prosecutor's officer for interrogation.

The storm against the NBP headquarters crowned with success. Three NatsBols cut open their veins

On 17 June the assault against the NBP headquarters lasted for over two and a half hours. Only by 17:00 the secret service officers managed to occupy all premises at the address: Office 2, Bldng. 1, House 17, Maria Ulianova St. 12 National Bolsheviks were detained. Three NatsBols cut their veins as a sign of protest against the actions of the authorities and were taken to hospital. The remaining defenders of the headquarters were brought to the OVD Lomonosovskoye. Also there, after they spent some time in the headquarters premises, came the FSB and UBOP officers.

Brute force against refugees

The dwellers of several temporary accommodation points in Grozny's Staropromyslovskii district obstructed a road to the centre of the Chechen capital in the morning on 29 July.

The public meeting that largely consisted of women demanded that a young man abducted from a temporary accommodation point on the night of 28 July by armed people in camouflage uniforms and masks should be immediately released, Caucasian Knot's correspondent says.

"At about 9.00 pm last night armed people in masks coming in three UAZ vehicles and a Zhiguli car without registration number plates broke into a room on the second floor of a temporary accommodation point in Koltsov St in the Staropromyslovskii district and brought away Ilias Azimov, b. 1985, without indicating the destination," a public meeting participant said.
