For 7 months the Polish frontier guards have detained more than 200 Chechen refugees
For the first 7 months in 2005 the Polish frontier guards have detained in total 236 persons with passports issued in Russia, basically on the Polish-German border when they illegally tried to get across to Germany. This is higher, than for the similar period of the last year. Almost all detained are Chechens, informs German newspaper Die Welt.

On Friday, a Sverdlovsk region court overturned a lower court decision to release him early for good behavior. Trepashkin arrived in Moscow on Aug. 31 after being freed from prison in Nizhny Tagil. During an inspection of the center for senior citizens and handicapped, the Urupinsk regional legislature in the Volgograd region identified a case of illegal detention of the tenants, the Office of the Public Prosecutor announced Sept. 13. The reason for the inspection was a complaint by L. Bezrukov, who informed local authorities that the senior center illegally withheld 75 percent of his pension for his living in the center. The inspection yielded evidence that supported Bezrukov’s accusations about the illegal apprehension of seniors and handicapped in the so-called room for intensive care.
